Visiting Session of the “Artik city closed stone pit wastes and flood management” pilot project’s Steering Committee

On February 1, a visiting session of the Steering Committee of the “Artik city closed stone pit wastes and flood management” pilot project of the “Environmental project Implementation unit” State Agency was held in the city hall of the Artik municipality of the Shirak region.

Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment Anna Mazmanyan joined the session remotely. The session was attended by the Director of the EPIU Armen Yesoyan, the head of the Artik community Ananik Voskanyan, deputy heads of the Artik community, the representatives of the “Sustainable climate development” NGO, village heads, the members of the Steering Committee Suren Mamyan, Aram Sayadyan, Levon Azizyan, Andranik Frangyan, Narine Hakobyan, Sevak Matilyan, Arman Ajamoglyan, the EPIU staff members, as well as other invited persons.

During the session the results of the work carried out within the framework of the Project were presented, the draft decision on the execution of works specified by the annual procurement plan (July 2020-July 2021) of the Project and the distribution of waste bins were discussed, the procurement plan for 2022 and the work schedule of the Project were approved.

Discussion of requirements towards NIR

On 27 January, the chief specialist of Project Implementation and Monitoring Department of the Environmental Project Implementation Unit Armen Ajamoghlyan and the first category specialist of  the Department of Cooperation with Donors of the EPIU Milena Kiramijyan took part in the “Requiments for GHG National Inventory Report as a part of Biennial Transparency Report under the Paris Agreement” workshop in the framework of “Armenia’s Third Biennial Update Report to the UNFCCC” project.
Representatives of state authorities, scientific research and specialized institutions, sector experts and statisticians attended the event. The participants addressed the requirements for national inventory reports as part of the Biennial Transparency Report as well as the specifics in the estimation of greenhouse gas emissions in the “Energy” sector of Armenia.
Marina Sargsyan, the Project Task Leader of UNDP “Armenia’s Third Biennial Update Report to the UNFCCC” and Tigran Sekoyan, the UNDP Energy and energy efficiency senior expert reported on the topics “Requirements for national greenhouse gases inventory reports as part of
the Biennial Transparency Report under the Paris Agreement” and “Assessment of “Energy” sector GHG emissions” accordingly.

Meeting with the Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Ani Ispiryan

Today, a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Ani Ispiryan took place at the Environmental prօject implementation unit.

Representatives of the Environmental prօject implementation unit and the Ministry of Economy discussed the public investment programs proposed by the EPIU.

Environmental project Implementation Unit is looking for a project manager

The “Environmental project Implementation Unit” State Agency at the Ministry of Environment (hereinafter referred to as the employer) announces a competition to select a project manager within the framework of the grant program “Transition towards electric mobility in Armenia”. Duration of the program is 3 years. The selected employee will undergo a two-month trial period, after which a three-month contract will be concluded with the condition to renew it based on performance indicators.

Duty station: Yerevan, Armenia

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00-18:00

Project Manager

  • reports to the National Project Director, to the Task Manager of the Lead Implementing Agency (UNEP), as well as the employer;
  • submits a roadmap to achieve the results expected from him/her within the framework of the program;
  • reports on the work done and the obtained results at the end of each working day and week at the request of the employer;
  • shows up to work and uses his own computer, at the request of the employer;
  • submits a person as his/her guarantor of property liability, at the request of the employer.

Duties:

  • Ensure that project implementation is carried out according to the project design and the outputs are delivered and outcomes achieved to the required standard of quality within the approved timeframe and budget.
  • Regular communication with relevant ministries, governmental agencies, co-finance partners, PSC members, members of ad-hoc technical working groups and all other key stakeholders.
  • Organize and facilitate the inception workshop, project steering committee meetings and other project meetings.
  • Undertake timely reporting to the NPD and the IA as per the M&E Plan and the project cooperation agreement requirements.
  • Prepare annual workplan and budget revisions and update the project Procurement Plan, as required.
  • Supervision of the staff, experts, subcontractors, and implementing partners working on the project.
  • Annual assessment of risks, considering risks identified in the CEO Endorsement document and proposal of mitigation strategies and implementation of mitigations measures.
  • Track project achievements against the Results Framework, Core Indicator worksheet and Gender Action Plan.
  • Lead the development of e-mobility strategy and reports preceding its approval.
  • Monitor the scheduling, reporting, and quality of the capacity building programme
  • Ensure the procurement project implementation (including charging infrastructure development) is carried out according to the workplan, design, and fulfills KPIs and targets listed in the Results Framework.
  • Ensure the proper organization and implementation of the National Forum on Electric Mobility.
  • Communicate with other specialists involved in the project. Ensure that aspects of gender relevant to outputs other than the one related to strategy development based on the gender experts assessment are integrated into other outputs.
  • Submit a work plan for the provision of services within the first week after the the contract is concluded.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, information management, or a related field (presence of a diploma confirming education);
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in project management, preferably in the area of climate change (the presence of at least one contract for carrying out such work and / or one of the following documents confirming the work done: certificate, review, recommendation, act of delivery and acceptance of work, protocol);
  • Experience in preparing written outputs including background papers, analytical notes, reports etc. is required (certificate of relevant experience);
  • Experience in the UN system or comparable international organizations is desirable (availability of at least one of the following documents confirming employment contracts and/or completed work: certificate, review, recommendation);
  • Excellent knowledge of Armenian (written and oral), English (TOEFL, IELTS or other equivalent certificate), Russian (written and oral) languages.

A two-day seminar “Training sustainable agriculture for farmer field schools of Dilijan and Urtsadzor” was held at the Dzoraghbyur Green Training Center

On January 22 Director of the State Agency “Environmental project Implementation Unit” at the Ministry of Environment Armen Yesoyan, Deputy director Armen Khojoyan and Head of the Project Implementation and Monitoring department Rubik Shahazizyan took part in a two-day seminar within the frames of the project “Strengthening land based adaptation capacity in communities adjacent to protected areas in Armenia” on the topic “Training sustainable agriculture for farmer field schools of Dilijan and Urtsadzor” held at the Dzoraghbyur Green Training Center with the support of the EPIU and Outsource LLC.

As a result of the seminar, about 20 farmers from the communities of Dilijan, Urtsadzor, Hovk, Gandzasar acquired theoretical and practical knowledge about sustainable agriculture, strengthened their knowledge through specially designed tasks and exercises, got acquainted with success stories in sustainable agriculture, with international experience.
